What is a Routine Dental Cleaning and Examination?

A routine dental cleaning and examination is a preventive checkup, usually recommended every six months (sometimes it may be recommended to come every 3-4 months) to remove plaque and calculus (tarter, build-up), polish teeth and screen for oral health issues. This process is completed by a dental hygienist while the dentist examines for cavities, gum disease and oral cancer.
